A Magical Week in Búzios

A Magical Week in Búzios

Pink Sunrise: A Sign from Grandma

The second sunrise in Búzios was nothing short of magical. The sky lit up in vibrant pinks, oranges, and yellows that seemed to dance together, painting a masterpiece. It was even more breathtaking than the first one, and as I stood there watching, I felt my grandma’s presence so strongly. Pink sunrises always remind me of her—her warmth, her love, her way of making everything feel special. I stood there in awe, feeling connected to her spirit and to God. This was one of those moments when I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be. I began my morning with yoga and meditation, soaking in the gratitude for everything unfolding around me. This sunrise set the tone for a week filled with blessings.

 Thanksgiving: Connection and Gratitude

Thanksgiving week was my first in Búzios, and it reminded me to stop and appreciate all the good in my life. I spent Thursday reconnecting with family and friends in the U.S., chatting with my stepdads, Greg and Norm, and my soul sister, Woodrie, who lives in Alaska. We caught up for over an hour, and it felt so good to hear her voice. She shared her ups and downs, and it was a reminder of the strong bond we’ve always had. I also reconnected with my old best friend Oliver, sent messages to Yaron, and stayed in close touch with Tams in London, who always brings light into my days. Every conversation filled me with gratitude, grounding me in the relationships that have supported me through so much.

Black Friday: Shopping and Inspiration

Friday was Black Friday, and while I didn’t splurge, I did pick up a lot of essentials to settle into my new home. With only a suitcase to my name, I needed everything from kitchenware to bathroom necessities. I also wanted to decorate with a beachy, Christmas vibe, so I bought a small tree, candles, plants, and some colorful stones for energy.  By the end of the day, my loft was coming together beautifully, and I felt a renewed excitement to start fresh.

Saturday Night: Rua das Pedras and Privilege

Saturday night was unforgettable. Neiva, Sol, and I started the evening at Rua das Pedras, the heart of Búzios, where cobblestone streets are lined with chic boutiques, stylish restaurants, and luxurious shops. It’s so posh and full of life, and walking through it made me feel alive in a way I hadn’t felt in a long time. The golden lighting, the sound of laughter, and the charm of the rocky streets reminded me how unique Búzios is—so different from Bondi, Hawaii, or even LA. I felt deeply inspired to dive into my app, knowing I could create something that captures the magic of this town.

We ended up at Privilege, a world-renowned club that also has a location in Ibiza. The energy was electric, and the maracujá and vodka cocktails were dangerously good. I danced the night away with Neiva, Sol, Vitoria and the Italians: Veronica & Marion -- our fabulous group of women. Everyone looked amazing, and the vibe was pure fun. I vaguely remember eating a hot dog at 4 a.m. with Neiva before heading home. The details of the night are a bit blurry, thanks to the cocktails, but I know it was one of those nights you never forget—even if you can’t remember all of it. Hahaha

Sunday Morning: Church and Spiritual Connection

Despite the late night, I woke up early on Sunday and made my way to church at Desatadora dos Nos. The service was packed, with people spilling out of the pews, and the energy was incredible. I sat next to a glamorous older woman who reminded me of a character from a Brazilian novella. She was so chic and welcoming, making me feel instantly at ease. The priest performed a unique blessing, sprinkling holy water over the congregation, which she humorously called “the shower.” It made me smile and added to the warmth of the experience.

After the service, I visited the chapel next door, known for helping people untie the knots in their lives. Sitting there, I prayed for clarity, peace, and guidance, and I left feeling lighter and more aligned with my purpose. The connection I felt with God and my grandparents during this moment was profound.

Sunday Afternoon: Barbecue and Night Swim

Later that day, Neiva invited me to a barbecue at her place. It was a small gathering with her son, brother, and a few friends, and the food was incredible—classic Brazilian barbecue with a touch of elegance. After we ate, someone suggested a night swim, and we walked to the beach under a sky full of stars. The water was warm and inviting, and glowing fish swam around us, creating a magical, almost otherworldly atmosphere. I felt so at peace, surrounded by good people and beautiful nature. It was the perfect way to close out my first week in Búzios.

Reflections and Inspiration

Every moment of this week filled me with inspiration—not just for the app, but for life itself. Búzios is unlike anywhere else I’ve lived. The rocky streets of Rua das Pedras, the vibrant energy of the town, the warmth of the people, and the stunning natural beauty make it so unique. It’s not Bondi, Hawaii, or LA—it’s something entirely its own. Each sunrise and sunset, each connection, and each experience has reminded me that dreams do come true, even if they take years to manifest.

As Neiva said, sometimes we travel the world searching for something, only to realize it was in our backyard all along. This week, I felt that truth deeply. Whether it was dancing at Privilege, praying in the chapel, or swimming under the stars, every moment felt like a gift. I know this is only the beginning, and I’m so excited for what’s to come.
